Walking in Worcestershire

Situated in the West Midlands, Worcestershire is home to glorious countryside, including the Malvern Hills, making it a great destination to explore on two feet.

There’s so much to discover and plenty of walking routes nestled through Worcestershire that take walkers across the county and also into Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Wales and Warwickshire. If you’re thinking of visiting the Malvern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, then why not stay in a pub instead of a traditional B&B or hotel?

Pubs in Worcestershire provide walkers with everything they need, from comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, to meals served throughout the day and a sociable atmosphere. After a great day out exploring the Wyre Forest or walking the Mid Worcestershire Ring, guests can recover and rest their weary legs in a warm, cosy room, freshen up in a modern en-suite bathroom and then head just downstairs for some of the finest food served in the region and few drinks.

After walking all day you don’t have to worry about walking somewhere else or driving into town as pubs are at the heart of many communities in Worcestershire and they organise entertainment and events throughout the year. From live music to quiz nights or beer festivals and BBQ's there’s always something happening during the week and weekends. You can sit back and relax, enjoy a pint or two before heading to your room full of character that’s just a stone’s throw away.

If you’re not sure where to walk on your holiday some of the most popular walks in Worcestershire are:

  • Mid Worcestershire Ring – 21 mile circular trail that can be followed by boats and cyclists as well as walkers.

  • The Worcestershire Way – 31 mile walk that passes through the valleys of the River Teme and Severn. It starts in Bewdley and ends in Great Malvern taking walkers through picturesque villages such as Martley and Knightwick.

  • The Severn Way – 210 mile long distance walk, with 39 miles in Worcestershire. This runs through idyllic villages and towns such as Bewdley and Worcestershire. The walking route follows the the River Severn from its source in Mid Wales to the Bristol Channel.

  • Geopark Way – 109 miles through Abberley and the Malvern Hills Geopark. The route starts in Bridgeporth, Shropshire and ends in Gloucester. Walkers can expect to see stunning landscapes in an area home to 700 million years of Earth’s history.
