Welcome to the Engine Inn, a traditional Cornish pub, set in the heart of the West Cornwall countryside close to St Ives.
The Engine Inn’ is a traditional Cornish Inn situated adjacent to the main B3311 road between St. Ives and Penzance with spectacular moorland views from the beer garden to the rear. Within easy travelling distance are Zennor, with its legend of the mermaid, the Iron Age village of Chysauster, the world famous Minack theatre, overlooking the sea and Land’s End; as are the beautiful beaches and coves of this area. The pub has a large car park opposite, but with a public footpath running to the rear of the property and its own paddock, ‘The Engine’ is also ideally situated for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
Parts of the building date back to the 1700’s and in its time it has been both the counting house for the local tin mine and a farmhouse, before its most recent incarnation, some decades ago, as a hostelry. Nowadays ‘The Engine’ is the only pub serving the hamlet of Cripplesease and the village of Nancledra and is a thriving ‘local’ at the very heart of the community.
Traditional British pub food focussed on local Cornish produce and seasonality, with a large selection of classic ales & wines. Here at the Engine Inn, we offer delicious freshly home cooked, reasonably priced pub food, based around fresh, locally sourced and grown, seasonal ingredients.
From a selection of mouth watering starters, to a wide selection of mains typical of the traditional home cooked menu and rounded off with a tempting sweet menu that you will find hard to resist. There is a separate Pirates and Mermaids menu for the under 10’s and highchairs are also available. During the winter months, our menu and times for food service are rather more limited, so please check before travelling to avoid disappointment.
Bed and Breakfast is offered in two en suite rooms in a separate converted barn. Both letting rooms have TV, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities and a small fridge. The availability of free parking means we are open to enquiries from those with motorhomes, who might want to make an overnight stop, in order to spend the evening at the pub and there is also the option of rough camping on our land.
