The Royal Oak Appleby, a historic 17th Century coaching inn recently awarded a Visit Britain 4 Star Inn Accolade offering excellent value food and accommodation in the heart of the Eden Valley.

The Royal Oak Appleby is an award winning family run Inn (voted the best tenanted and leased pub in the UK 2012/13) nestled in the unspoilt Eden Valley and only 20 minutes from the Lake District.

Offering 10 high quality bedrooms and a superb 2 bed roomed holiday cottage, our newly refurbished restaurant can seat up 62, with a cosy lounge featuring a real log fire and a dog friendly tap room, we serve quality British pub food and of course never less than 3 local cask ales to sample. We are looking forward to seeing you soon, we are sure you will not be disappointed.

All our rooms are of ample size and are available with the choice of double or twin beds, they are situated on the first floor or the second floor eaves. The Royal Oak is a genuine 18th century Inn so we do have some low beamed areas but I am sure you will agree this only adds to our Inns wonderful overall character.

Appleby-in Westmorland lies in the loop of the River Eden, overlooked by the Pennine range with the Lake District fells on the western horizon just a few miles away. The former County Town of Westmorland, an ideal centre for tourists of all types, now world famous for its Gypsy Fair in early June each year, but has still kept its old world charm. A walk up Boroughgate can transport you back to Medieval England, superb riverside walks provides a perfect opportunity to experience the tranquillity of our unspoilt Eden Valley.
