Nestled in the small former bobbin mill village of Spark Bridge, within the Lake District National Park, the Royal Oak is a traditional country pub situated on the River Crake.

The Royal Oak offers a warm welcome in the bar area with a real open fire, traditional cosy surroundings, real ales, good home-cooked food and cosy en-suite bedrooms. The Royal Oak makes a great base for exploring the Lake District National Park, being close to Coniston and Coniston Water and with easy access to Grizedale, Hawkshead, Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere and the local market town of Ulverston.

The Royal Oak has a bar serving real ales both local and national, premium lagers and ciders. They have a range of wines of the world including sparkling. The gin range is ever increasing and their team are always happy to advise the perfect tonic to your gin. A choice of vodkas, rums and whiskies along with ports and sherry complete the back bar. A range of soft drinks, alcohol free and hot drinks are also available.

They serve fresh home-cooked food, all of the produce is sourced locally, Hutchinson butchers a favourite of theirs plus Cartmel game to name a few. The main menu runs alongside the specials boards offering various meat, game and fish dishes alongside vegetarian options. They also have a selection of desserts available which do change according to seasons and their Oak cheeseboard of Lakeland cheeses is perfect with one of their ports.

They boast 3 cosy en-suite bedrooms, and one garden view cottage with en-suite shower room. All the rooms offer a warm and cosy country cottage feel with traditional oak beams and views of the surrounding countryside. This makes them a great place whether your looking for a relaxing getaway in the Lake District or a place to lay your head after a hard days hiking, cycling or kayaking you're sure to find The Royal Oak a warm, pleasant place to stay.

The rooms are all spacious, but with a cosy homely feel and pleasant soft furnishings. All have tea and coffee making facilities, colour TV’s with Freeview and DVD players, hairdryer, iron and ironing board and your usual finishing touches, they even leave something on your pillow for those long Fell hikes. WiFi access is also available in the rooms. The most important meal of the day is breakfast, especially if you planning a day of exploring the Lakes. All the room rates include a hearty breakfast made with local ingredients.
