The West Arms is a stunning 15th Century pub, perfectly situated in an idyllic setting in the foothills of the Berwyn Mountain.

For Nicky and Mark Williamson taking over the West Arms in 2018 was more like a "calling". The Welsh countryside had a draw for both of them from childhood. When they came across the West Arms by accident the lure of the charm and character of this 15th Century country hotel and of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog became too much to resist, as it does for so many visitors who fall upon this undiscovered secret of Wales.

The love of serving up delicious food and drink is as old as the human race and it’s a love which is at the very heart of what makes their gourmet getaway so special. This fantastic pub is one of the best North Wales restaurants and their skilled kitchen team make sure that each and every plate they serve is perfect.

They showcase the best produce the valley has to offer, whether it’s Lady Kenyon of Greddington’s homegrown fruit and veg, Josh Williams’ free range eggs, Dave Keegan of Llanrhaedr ym Mochant’s Welsh lamb and beef or Rosie Davies’ edible flowers, you’ll be sure to be tucking into unique culinary creations which spring from the glorious landscape surrounding them.

Their bar offers a place of rest, respite, comfort and hospitality throughout the day until late at night. A roaring fire, a selection of delicious local ales and the warmest of welcomes help to draw in a mixed and friendly crowd, combining locals and the likes of walkers, cyclists, anglers and shooting parties who’ve travelled from far and wide to this unspoiled corner of the world.

Their accommodation is a blend of character rooms in the original 15th Century part of the Inn and valley view rooms to the rear. What they have in common is a blend of traditional comfort and warmth with all the facilities you’d expect. You can lie back on a traditional brass or even a four poster bed, admire the original oak beams, savour the heritage of the building and when you wake up from a great night’s sleep you can look forward to a hearty and delicious Welsh breakfast. Little touches in each bedroom include fluffy bath robes and chocolates. They are also a dog friendly hotel and well behaved dogs are as welcome as people in their rooms for a small additional charge per night.

The West Arms experience is about much more than the warmth, comfort and welcome of the centuries old building itself. It’s about the stunning beauty and natural variety of the surrounding landscape. There is a range of things to do in North Wales, from the surroundings of your room - enjoy walking, mountain biking, horseback riding, golf, fishing, canoeing and climbing in some of the most spectacular scenery the UK has to offer. The world famous Snowdonia National Park is close at hand, as are Chirk and Powis castles, the picturesque town of Llangollen and Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall.
