The Barley Mow is a wonderful 200 year old pub who are steeped in history. They are perfectly situated in the Peak District, in the beautiful, picturesque village of Bonsall.
This pub is located in breathtaking countryside and is the perfect base for glorious walks. Expect a quirky, boutique and fairly bohemian pub, with a great and well earned reputation for well kept real ales and cask ciders. (They have their own brewery called Chickenfoot which produces a delicious range of ales)
The Barley Mow is not a gastropub, and its not trying to be either. Their delicious menus change daily and they are more than happy to cater for any special requirements or even cook your favourite meal by prior arrangement. They also have regular daily specials, which will usually include at least one vegetarian option. Please note lunch is served on weekends only when the pub is open all day.
Their Barley Loft accommodation has its own separate entrance and is not accessed via the pub at all. This fantastic apartment sleeps 4 guests comfortably and comes with 2 double bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds. This accommodation also comes with a lounge, bathroom with toiletries and a kitchenette with a double ringed electric hob, fridge, toaster and kettle. Breakfast is self service and continental in style to include cereals, bread, tea and coffee.
On the first Saturday in August, every year and for centuries they race hens in Bonsall and you can view this fantastic event on the YouTube video. The Barley Mow have a friendly and welcoming gang of regulars, poetry nights, open mic nights, film nights, a French speaking club, vinyl nights, jazz nights and the most amazing free and live music and entertainment. This is all topped off with the kind of incredible atmosphere money simply cannot buy.
