The Bell is a beautiful country pub with bed and breakfast. This pub is family and dog friendly and is just 5 minutes drive from Rye.
The Bell is a traditional country inn dating back, in parts, to 1107. Local legend has it, that the original building was used as accommodation for the monks that built Iden church. It is also thought that there is a tunnel between the pub cellar and the church, although this has not been discovered, they do keep an eye out for the vicar turning up in the cellar!
They are proud of their home cooked food and enjoy using the abundant local produce from Sussex and The Garden of England. The menu reflects the seasons and they are open throughout the day for tea and coffee or for delicious homemade bar snacks. The restaurant is light and welcoming and perfect for a light lunch with friends, a romantic evening supper or a lazy Sunday afternoon with the family. They offer a traditional Sunday roast every week from 12pm to 5pm.
The bar is the perfect place to meet with old and new friends and their changing ales and beers reflect their passion for supporting local breweries. They also serve continental lagers and have a superb wine list.
The Bell have two delightful letting rooms, The Hay Store and Tack Room which are located in the converted stable block. This pub also has wonderful beer gardens for enjoying the summer, and a warm cosy snug with a wood burning fire for the wintery nights. Every third Wednesday of the month The Bell run a pub quiz with a cash prize, bring your team and test your general knowledge.
