The New Inn, situated on the crossroads of the pretty village of Thornton Dale, is a traditional pub offering a cosy bar, restaurant, 6 en-suite guest rooms and a holiday cottage.
The 18th Century coaching inn, located in the North York Moors National Park, has everything you’d hope for in a long-established village pub. The informal and inviting bar, complete with roaring log fire to banish the chill in the winter, offers 3 Cask Marque award real ales, a selection of draught and bottled lagers, ciders, wines and spirits. They also serve hot drinks and we hear that the hot chocolate, with cream and marshmallows, is the perfect pick me up after a day in the elements. In the summer, their pretty courtyard terrace is set up with tables and chairs and overflowing pots of vibrant flowers creating an enchanting space for al fresco eating or drinking.
Diners at the New Inn will enjoy fresh and home-made dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Sunday lunch is popular here, so make sure you book, but there is an excellent array of lunch and evening specials to tempt.
The 6 en-suite guest rooms are excellent value for money. Charmingly decorated in a country style with solid wood furniture, exposed beams and floral wallpaper, all the rooms come with a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. A generous breakfast the following morning is included in the price; you can choose from a range of cooked options as well as enjoying fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt and toast.
Thornton Dale is a picture-perfect village located in the south of the North York Moors National Park. The village itself is a bustling community with a village green, shop, post office and even a duck pond. Walking and cycling trails are plentiful and you don’t have to venture far to enjoy the majestic peaks of the moors. Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land zoo and theme park and Castle Howard are all within easy reach.
