Sitting on Shipham village green, 500ft up in the Mendip hills sits the Penscot Inn. Originally 3 cottages it is now a friendly inn with 12 en-suite rooms.

Ideally situated to explore the surrounding area, the Penscot Inn is packed full of character. Its 12 en-suite rooms with original features and comfortable beds ensure a peaceful night, leaving you ready to sample the freshly cooked English breakfast on offer every morning.

The cosy bar boasts local ales and enough locally made ciders to keep you busy for the evening. Food at the Penscot is simple and unfussy, prepared on the premises from locally sourced produce, there is something for most appetites, small portions, hearty dishes, sandwiches.

All 12 bedrooms have new beds and are decorated in contemporary colours with solid pine furniture a world away from corporate styling. All rooms have a selection of teas, including herbal, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits for dunking. You will also find a selection of organic aloe vera toiletries. They have flat screen TVs with freeview, WiFi access, while they do not have hairdryers in every room they do have them available, just ask at the bar they are happy to help.
