The Brewers Arms and Old Bakehouse Restaurant are found at the centre of the bustling Hamstone village of South Petherton, Somerset.
Dating from the 17th century, this old coaching inn has much to offer with its lively village bar, relaxed dining rooms and three en-suite bedrooms. The Brewers Arms has been awarded ‘Taste of the West’ silver and gold awards, Western Gazette Pub of the Year and was recently Somerset CAMRA Pub of the Year for the third time.
The Brewers Arms has gained a reputation for serving quality real ales from all corners of the British Isles. Over 2400 different real ales have been served over the years. The regular house beer is Otter Bitter with another pump dedicated to brews from Butcombe Brewery. These are complimented with a further three guest ales and four ciders including one guest cider. The wine list boasts ten wines by the glass and the malt whisky selection ensures all tastes are catered for.
The chefs source their ingredients as locally as possible with some produce from their own village. The menu is the same throughout the bar and restaurant, though some seasonal a la carte dishes are found on the restaurant specials board. They run special nights throughout the week including surf and turf nights, curry nights and Sunday lunches are well known locally with a choice of three meats, fish and a vegetarian option. Along with a two course set lunch on weekdays they ensure guests have plenty to choose from.
Three contemporary en-suite rooms, one king size and two doubles, offer a comfortable stay. Each room has all the modern conveniences including television, free WiFi, tea and coffee making facilities, radio alarms, hairdryers and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast, served in the garden room, is a delight with a wide choice from locally sourced ingredients.
