Details

The Swan, is a bustling village pub with 7 stunning en-suite bedrooms and an outstanding kitchen led by Tom Blake from River Cottage.

The pub has been sympathetically modernised, with much of the original eighteenth & nineteenth century architecture fully restored. Opening as a Beer House in the early 1700s, the property was subsequently enlarged to become ‘The Swan Hotel’ from the mid 1800s with rooms, stables and coaching yard.

They are open all day for a quick drink, a snack or a delicious meal. Come and sit in their bar beside a woodburner, watch the world go by at tables out front, dine in the restaurant or alfresco on the terrace – or just enjoy the peace of the garden.

The kitchen is the heart of this pub. Tom Blake and his team produce a River Cottage inspired menu which changes daily and they use all the best local ingredients. It is simple, unfussy, fresh food at its best. This starts with their own bread and cakes produced daily and also extends to their own cured hams and bacon, fresh fish delivered 6 days a week from Brixham and fresh meat such as pork provided by a local butcher’s own herd.

Sunday lunch is also a special occasion, a great time to relax and eat at a leisurely pace. They offer a traditional roast as well as fish and vegetarian options. They also think that there is nothing more frustrating than finding the kitchen closed when you want to eat.  They run an all day bar snack menu alongside the main restaurant and pretty much anytime they are open, you should be able to order something like their home made potted pig with freshly baked bread or a summer salad to accompany your pint or glass of wine.

The Swan has 7 individually designed and supremely comfortable en-suite guest bedrooms. There are 6 bedrooms on the first floor, with the 7th light, spacious loft bedroom located upstairs. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, garden and to stay in the bedrooms at a charge of £10 per dog per night.

Deep pile towels and hand made Bramley luxury natural bath and body products are in plentiful supply to ensure guests have all they require for a comfortable and relaxing stay. All rooms have flat screen TVs (with DVD), iPod docking stations, free WiFi access and freshly ground coffee and tea-making facilities. Twin rooms can be created if required and they can squeeze in children on an extra bed or provide a cot when needed. (Children up to 12 years of age at a cost of £20)

The old skittle alley at the back of the pub has been beautifully refurbished in the same style as the rest of The Swan to create a Club Room (Picure 7 in the gallery) suitable for private dining, large parties, corporate meetings and weddings.
