The Badgers is a fabulous, privately owned freehouse nestled in the heart of the South Downs.
The Badgers has a lively bar, supported by an interesting array of locals with many a tale to tell! It also has a fine restaurant with a unique menu to cater for all tastes. Three luxury double rooms with en-suite are also available to book.
They offer a wide range of beers, wines and spirits and because they are a freehouse, they have no constraints imposed by a brewery and offer real ales. They pride themselves on using fresh local produce, wherever possible, and their menus change regularly to incorporate seasonal availability throughout the year. One of the specialities is fresh fish from the local South coast markets and during the summer this includes lobsters and crab. Whilst in winter, they focus on locally sourced game, such as pheasant, partridge, pigeon and venison.
They have a large restaurant area (which can also be used for private functions) and two cosy areas in the bar area, with log fires in the winter. In the summer, the terrace is in full sunlight with relaxing views over the River Rother.
In their fabulous bedrooms you will find those little home from home luxuries. Each room is equipped with its own Nespresso coffee machine, tea making facilities as well as homemade biscuits. They are also equipped with fridges, a television with built in freeview and a Roberts radio.
This fabulous pub is steeped in history and was previously known as The Railway Inn in the late 1800’s and was the old charabanc stop on the way to Goodwood racecourse. It also served Petworth Railway Station which closed down in the 1960’s.
